The Christian faith is a faith rooted firmly in history - that's why Tilsley Academy offers 'History Matters' in its curriculum of studies. The Bible traces the origins of humanity to a time and place set on the earth. The Judeo-Christian worldview develops that history as recorded in the pages of the Old Testament. The Christian church has its own history rooted and grounded in the person and actions of Jesus of Nazareth, who they know to be Lord and Christ. The subsequent growth and development of the church worldwide, from the first to the twenty first century is a story worthy of study.  Knowing who we are today as the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is dependent upon where we have come from and what we have believed.  History matters - it has shaped and made us who we are today as the people of God.

Tilsley Academy aims to help a student walk through the history of the past two millenia, taking snap-shots, tracing themes and noticing currents and movements where the Spirit of God has been at work in the past, holding out for us all a firm hope for the future.

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
